Ann Brauer’s quilts reflect her love of color, design, and above all the landscape around her. “Each quilt is a new adventure that starts with a name and concept,” states Brauer. Although her concepts are contemporary, she retains a great respect for the historic traditions of quilt-making.
Brauer’s work resides in the permanent collections of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the U.S. Department of State and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Artist Foundation. Hills, Fields, Rivers and Two Trees: Scenes from Western Massachusetts, a series of twelve wall quilts, was commissioned for the Federal District Courthouse in Springfield, MA.
