Meg Black is a painter who doesn’t use brushes. Squeeze bottles, a plastic spoon, a turkey baster, and even old credit cards are all put to use to make her sculptural paper pulp paintings. Beaten abaca fibers are her medium of choice, lending an undeniable 3-D surface quality to her work. Black’s work has been acquired by the State of New Hampshire, Fidelity Investments, General Foods, and Bain Capital. Her artist books are in the collections of Harvard University, the RISD Print Library, the Boston Public Library and the Smith College Library. "Sailboats in the Harbor, Marblehead, MA". 25 x 58 x 7 inches. Canvas, handmade paper (cotton, abaca fiber), pearlescent pigment, acrylic medium.
