Christie Schorf-Miller's “Glasgow Rose With Leaves” tile is an example of the work she and her husband, James, create in the Mission Style. She says, "The tile in the photo is created from red clay. The clay is hand rolled out into a long wide “slab” (approx. 3/4” in thickness). It’s then smoothed by hand and then carefully impressed with my reverse carved “Glasgow Rose With Leaves” design. My next step in creation is a lil bit of additional hand sculpting to refine the design using potter’s tools and sponge work. I’ve dubbed this glaze color “Mackintosh” red … a Striking color!"
