Sheilagh Flynn creates wall mosaics of glazed, colored, carved clay, visible mortar borders, and collected stones. In her “River Series, Found Objects”, that takes the form of impressionistic representations of an aerial view from an airplane window: the undulating rivers knit together with agricultural fields, beaches, and forests of New England, where she’s spent most of her life. Those found objects, too, aren’t just stones: she carves with a variety of unexpected items, many from flea markets: golf tees, drawer pulls, wooden dowels. "Journey", mosaic tile wall work, carved terra-cotta tile with beach stone. 34" x 22".
