I hand-fabricate texture-rich, structural, one-of-a-kind statement jewelry, weaving together geometric and architectural forms found in the natural world. The work is primarily crafted in sterling and fine silver, accented with gold, gemstones and pearls. I often photograph macro shots of Pacific Northwest plants in every state of growth and decay to inform my work.
I began metalwork in 1976. Despite dalliances with other media which still influence my work, the sheer power of shaping metal with my hands and with fire always calls me back. Even after more than three decades, I am still constantly honing my craft and my voice.
I am an artist/educator and also a perpetual student, always striving to broaden understanding of my chosen craft. I am a better artist and teacher when also open to learning: My students’ questions drive me to refine how I articulate my process (both as a designer and fabricator).
