Vermont artist Laura Zindel has found the perfect way to combine her passion for ceramics with her love of naturalist illustration, the aesthetic of the Arts and Crafts movement, and even the wonderous treasures found in Victorian “Cabinets of Curiosities”. All of these disparate interests come together in her charming functional ceramics. While she trained as a ceramist, Zindel has always loved pencil drawing and looked for ways to incorporate her drawing into her ceramic work. She began by drawing directly on the surface of clay. Today, her drawings are silkscreened and printed as enamel transfers onto her ceramic pieces.
