Jesse Shaw
“People often ask me when I first knew I wanted to be a furniture designer and builder,” says Jesse Shaw. “I was in my twenties and I had a design in my mind for a jewelry box I wanted to make for a woman I was dating. I drew my idea on paper and then built the box from my paper plan. The jewelry box went from mind, to paper, to reality. That was my ‘epiphany’. I realized that whatever I could think of, I could make, and I knew that was what I wanted to do.” Shaw has appeared on the PBS show Rough Cut Woodworking. His work has been shown at the Wharton Esherick Museum, Design Museum Boston, and resides in the permanent collection of the Savannah College of Art & Design.
