A full Professor of Art at CCSU since 1997, Vicente Garcia received his MFA in ceramics at the University of North Texas. His raku-fired stoneware is distinguished by metallic finishes created with smoke, copper glazes and washes. “Many of these clay vessels fool the eye, appearing to be made from wrought iron or copper,” observes Garcia. When he wanted to work on a larger scale, it was only natural to turn to steel! His enormous metal sculpture is also on display.
Garcia demonstrates throwing clay into large, graceful vessels on the potter’s wheel every day at Paradise City.
