Chihiro Makio considered a career as a painter until she fell in love with the endless possibilities of three-dimensional materials. Makio’s cool shapes, refined details and sophisticated use of metals won her a first place Saul Bell Award for Silver and a Niche Finalist Award.
“From an early age I have loved creating precious little things,” writes Makio, and that extends to her remarkable metal sculpture. Her tiny teapot series explores psychology and imagination while showcasing her skills as a metalsmith.
