Our Paradise City Guide cover artist Barbara Poole has a BFA from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and earned her MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art. She teaches felting at the Danforth Museum and the Worcester Art Museum. Poole uses a combination of felting techniques including wet wool, needle felting, inclusions, beading and hand stitching. She designs and makes adorable felted hats, scarves and astonishing coats and dresses that epitomize the term “wearable art”. “The four elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water, are a constant underlying theme in all my work”, writes Poole. “I overlay the basic themes with an urban edge; I add rock and roll and jazz!”
