Stephanie Young works in porcelain. Her layered, incredibly detailed vases are hand thrown on the potters wheel. When the piece is leather-hard, she carves it with very simple tools. She writes, “My designs are freehand. Not measured. No stencils or templates. From the hand, mind, and heart.” Her forms and glazes often refer to Art Nouveau crafts, architecture and antiques. She works from miniature to kiln-sized, two inch bottles to stunning lamps, all sharing the unifying elements of her extraordinary designs.
