Spring Northampton Benefit Partner • International Language Institute

Paradise City’s Silent Art Auctions have raised more than half a million dollars over the years to benefit community causes and non-profits, including Hospice, Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, the Kestrel Land Trust, the Breast Form Fund, WGBY Public Television and the Northampton Survival Center. The beneficiary organization receives 100% of the donated funds. This spring, the International Language Institute of Massachusetts (ILI) is the beneficiary of Paradise City’s popular Silent Art Auction. 100% of the Auction proceeds will be donated to ILI.

Join the throngs of eager bidders, take home a one-of-a-kind find and support ILI at the same time!

The International Language Institute of Massachusetts (ILI) is a private, nonprofit language school founded in 1984 and located in Northampton, Massachusetts. But ILI is more than a language learning center. We are students, teachers, and community supporters who passionately believe that by working together, we advance our mission to encourage multicultural understanding and create strong diverse communities through academic excellence.

ILI is celebrating 40 years in 2024 and has earned a distinguished international reputation for its many programs, including:

  • free English classes for immigrant and refugees
  • intensive English courses for international students
  • on-site workforce language training for employers and employees
  • world language classes and one-on-one tutoring
  • certification in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL)
  • partnerships with 12 regional and national colleges and universities
  • volunteer tutor and host-family opportunities
  • and MORE!

Language can bring people together or sometimes create barriers that are difficult to overcome. We know that in this country and many others, poor skills in the “official” language contribute to the marginalization of many people, making it hard for them to realize their full potential. At ILI, we provide English language training in the hopes of bringing a truly multicultural, and linguistically equitable, society to reality.

We believe that fundamental misunderstandings, mistrust, and even aggression among nations can be overcome when people interact with respect for different cultures and different languages. This is true at individual, business, and government levels. ILI encourages language learning and cross-cultural awareness for both native and non-native speakers of English.

ILI thanks all artist donors and all of you for your generous support!

In 2020, ILI launched the IMPACT Fund to give our donors a convenient way to support all ILI’s programming—from free English classes for immigrants and refugees to workplace training programs. All proceeds from Paradise City’s Silent Art Auction will benefit the IMPACT Fund.

ILI encourages Arts Fair visitors to bid high and bid often at the Silent Art Auction tables in Exhibition Building 3!

Here’s what awaits you all weekend: Beautiful, valuable pieces donated by Paradise City’s outstanding exhibiting artists—from jewelry, furniture, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and glassworks to wearable art, metal, wood, prints, and more.

Check out the auction tables, where volunteers are on hand to help you place your bids; bidding ends exactly at 4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, and at 3:00pm on Monday. And be sure to visit the booths of the artist donors.
