A fascination with formal beauty and scale inspires Donna Veverka’s interest in architecture and ornament. She has lived in Italy and traveled the world, studying the details of classical arches, battlements, columns and elegant public squares for their balance of weight, light, proportion and embellishment. These are the essential elements she brings down to the scale of a ring, necklace or bracelet.

Blade forms and battlements that once protected castles now effectively guard fingers, earlobes and necklines. These slightly edgy works stand out from the crowd with a dignified and confident presence. Sterling silver with leather cords and hand forged chains comprises much of her limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces.

Veverka received a BFA from Philadelphia College of the Arts in Metalsmithing and an MFA in Sculpture from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She lives in Boston, and teaches at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
