Joanne Williams’ paintings layer transparent washes over multi textured surfaces embellished with delicate metal leaf and vibrant pigments. Her process combines focused intention with spontaneous moments of painterly chaos. Woven into each painting are iconic images, textures, shapes and colors that form a complex visual tapestry. The resulting compositions are balanced and meditative.
Williams received her MFA in Painting from George Washington University and Corcoran School of Art. Her work resides in many public and corporate collections including the Yale University Hospital, Monsanto Corporation, Seattle School of Law and Thomas Jefferson School of Law, to name just a few. Her painting in the Embassy of Kuwait is part of the Art in Embassy Program.
