The lifelike bird carvings of Ira Frost will astound you with their exquisite detail, meticulous painting and outstanding craftsmanship. Each bird is completely hand-carved in tupelo wood, with paper-thin pieces of wood added for the wing and tail feathers. Using tiny brushes, he captures the bird’s true coloring with acrylic paint. The final sculpture is mounted in a natural setting with hand-crafted leaves, twigs, grass, flowers and even insects made from wood and brass. Two of his carvings reside in the White House Collection in Washington, DC.
