Jeweled Objects OF DESIRE
On view through December 31
A dazzling display of extraordinary gems and jewelry from the vaults of the Smithsonian
National Museum of Natural History. Presenting uncut examples of precious materials
such as jade, amethyst and quartz alongside the artistry of man-made objects, the
exhibition celebrates the beauty of stones found deep within the earth. Also includes
bejeweled whimsical creations of internationally renowned jewelry designer Sidney
Mobell, who cleverly transforms common utilitarian items into beautiful jeweled
artworks through the application of gold and precious gemstones.
On loan from the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History, through the Smithsonian Affiliate
Program, supported by the MassMutual Foundation. Sponsored locally by Hannoush Jewelers.
