Jeffrey Hayes creates realist still life paintings on an intimate scale which owe an obvious and conscious debt to the great Dutch still life artists of 350 years ago. One of his passions is world cuisine, and many of his paintings describe food and serving implements in breathtaking detail.
Hayes writes, “It’s no accident that nearly all of my paintings are still lifes. I suppose they are really attempts to hold and savor these moments of mental and spiritual stillness.” These luminous paintings range in size from two inches to two feet square.
